Artists: SlowPitchSound (Cheldon Paterson) and James O’Callaghan curators/ composers Encounters: Samplings brings together two electronic artists working with the idea of sampling: SlowPitchSound and James O’Callaghan, remixing from a joint library of their sounds to create new tracks fusing hip hop, electroacoustics, contemporary classical, field recordings, and electronica. Soundstreams is delighted to open this sample pack to the public, inviting artists, musicians, and sound makers from all backgrounds to make their own mixes using samples created by SlowPitchSound and James O’Callaghan. On a first-come-first-serve basis, 10 participants will be invited to share their work at a relaxed listening session and concert on May 13 at the Redwood Theatre. The event is open to the public, and all are welcome to come have a drink, hear some new sounds, and join in on the conversation.
